In an archive where stories finish themselves, three endings go missing. Alice picks the first replacement too fast — and the real work turns out to be owning that.

The archive closes in an hour and three tales have lost their last pages. Blot, an ink fox, can smell a fresh correction; only the child can test whether a story actually holds together. The first choice is beautiful and wrong. When the evidence says so, the archive offers the easy way — paint over the gap and finish on time. The child stops the build instead, takes it apart, and rebuilds it, leaving one small mark in the margin.
